Book Club

What is a book club?

A book club is a group of readers who participate in the regular discussion of books. This reading community consists of several members who meet in person once each month to talk about a specific work.

The primary aim of the club is NOT to practice the language, but to read for joy and to share ideas and opinions.

What books are on the reading list?

The first book is "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison, winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize for Literature.

The books are chosen and discussion is moderated by Ms Robin Whitford. Book Club members may pick up their copies in person in the American Corner from January 9th.

Who can be a member?
If you like reading books in English and discuss them in a group, you may apply to become a member of the AC Book Club. Advanced level of English is a requirement. The Book Club is a closed group and can have only 10 members at any time.

How much does membership cost?
Membership is free of charge. Borrowing books is also priceless :)

When are the meetings?
Meetings are held on the first Thursday every month at 6pm in the American Corner starting on February 2nd.
