The Embassy of the United States joined forces with the City Council of Debrecen and the
University of
Debrecen so that the American Corner, a cultural and information office could come into existence in our city. Out of the almost 400 Corners in 60 countries all around the world there are five in
Hungary. Pécs, Veszprém, Debrecen, Eger and Budapest are the Corner Cities functioning as resource centers.
The basic function of the American Corner is to make information about the United States available by providing access to current and reliable information about the
U. S. via book, video, and DVD collections, the Internet, and through a wide range of local programs to general public. We hope to bring American culture closer to Hungarian people and therefore foster international cooperations.
As a certified EducationUSA advising center the AC actively promotes U.S. higher education around the world by offering accurate, unbiased, comprehensive, objective and timely information about educational institutions in the United States and guidance to qualified individuals on how best to access those opportunities.
